TRIAL WORK

In a day and time when the litigation departments of most law firms prepare cases to settle, we prepare cases for trial. Whether the case involves the defense of an employment decision, contract disputes between construction contractors, or other complex lawsuits, we approach litigation proactively. We thoroughly investigate the facts, give our clients frank and practical advice about the strengths and weaknesses of their position, vigorously pursue discovery and seek court assistance to compel the production of important information, and take depositions to lock witnesses into testimony and discover facts. Our approach to litigation involves close and regular consultation with clients to be sure it is engaged in the process, involved in important strategic decisions, and aware of facts as they develop.

We believe that settlement decisions should be guided by full development and analysis of facts and by judgment, not by fear of trial. While the majority of our trial work centers on practice in the Federal courts in Illinois, we are also experienced in Illinois State court trial work, in civil litigation arising in other states, and in trial work arising in administrative courts like the Illinois Human Rights Commission and the Occupational Safety & Health Review Commission.
